Below you will find answers to the most common questions I am asked about credential renewal. I’ve spoken to several coaches just in the past week who are trying to decide their best path forward. Congratulations on taking the time/thought to put a plan together that works best for you!

Q&A for those who are prepping for their credential renewal:

1. Where do I find the information that states what is required for my renewal?
Answer: You can find this information on the ICF website, here: https://coachingfederation.org/credentials-and-standards/renew-credential

2. I have just about enough hours for my PCC credential. Should I renew my ACC and wait or should I go for my PCC this year?

Answer: This is a common question. It depends on how quickly you feel you can: a. secure the rest of your hours and b. secure two, rather than one, recording for your application.

3. If upgrading from the ACC, when would l need to file for my PCC?

Answer: File on or before the end of your credential certificate (12/31/21).

4. Is there an inexpensive way to accumulate mentor coaching hours for my ACC?
Answer: Group mentor coaching is cost effective alternative to individual mentor coaching. Unfortunately, we will not be offer any other practicums before the end of the year. Our next Practicum begins in February 2022. Up to seven of your ten required mentor coaching hours can be generated from the group mentor coaching.

5. What are some tips for creating a client recording for a credential application?

6. How long is it taking to get final approvals?

Answer:
It is taking up to 2x the stated time frames on the ICF website right now. This is still better than other times. Patience with the process is important and worth it!

7. If I already took the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA) Exam for my ACC, will I have to take it again for my PCC?

Answer: You only take the CKA one time.

8. Are you taking any mentor coaching clients? If not, do you have any recommendations for a mentor coach for me?

Answer: I am not taking any mentor coaching clients. However, we do have at least two practicums we will run next year. If you’d like more information about dates/times, feel free to visit here.

9. How long does it take to secure 1 or 2 recordings for my credential application?

Answer: This is tricky since there are many dependencies.  However, in general, it takes 2-4 weeks to secure one ACC level recording and 8-10 weeks to secure two PCC level recordings.

10.  Where can I go to get my 3 Ethics hours for my credential renewal?

Answer: ICF has created an on-demand course for you. It’s very well done. To take this course simply click here.
